The Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2 undercard has received much criticism from fans for not featuring quality fights that the average non-British fan is interested in watching on December 21st.
The only fight out of the entire five-fight undercard that involves world-level fighters with the potential to capture titles is this one:
– Serhii Bohachuk vs. Israil Madrimov
Where Are The Stars?
This fight is the ONLY one on the undercard that is attracting any interest from boxing fans. Understandably, the promoters want to stack undercards with fighters that will drive PPV sales in their own countries.
They also want to help promote these guys to sell them to the local public to transform them into ticket sellers, but there’s no one on the undercard is going anywhere other than having a career tottering about at the domestic level as junk-food entertainment that is immediately forgotten by fans afterward,
The Disappointing undercard fights
– Moses Itauma vs. Demsey McKean
– Johnny Fisher vs. Dave Allen
– Dennis McCann vs. Peter McGrail
– Isaac Lowe vs. Lee McGregor
I view these fighters as scrubs and unworthy of being on His Excellency Turki Alalshikh’s prestigious December 21st card, as it gives fans outside of the UK NOTHING compelling to watch. These are not fights that U.S. fans want to watch. Not one of these is worth watching from my perspective, and there’s no interest.
It’s unclear whether the promoters spoke to Turki to ask him to put these fights on his card or if he wanted them. I honestly can’t believe he would purposely ask for any of these fights to be included in his December 21st event, and for obvious reasons. They’re all low-level fights that don’t gather interest.
Turkish would be doing fans a big favor if he swept these four low-level fights away with the back of his hand and inserted two or three solid fights involving must-watch talents.
