Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s return and prospect Ashton “H2O” Sylve still highlight the July 20 undercard.
The undercard for Jake Paul’s fight against Mike Perry on July 20 has been announced. One fight from the original card on the date remains, but the others have been switched around.
Here’s a rundown of the card at this point:
- As previously reported, Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KO) will take a 140 lb tune-up fight against Stevie Morgan (14-1, 13 KO), a 35-year-old Tampa local. This is meant to keep Serrano, 35, busy and in shape as she prepares to rematch Katie Taylor on Nov. 15, this time for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight championship. In a way, this all may have worked out to Serrano’s advantage. She’ll have extra time to make sure she fights at 140 as best she can.
- Ashton “H2O” Sylve (11-0, 9 KO) will face Lucas Bahdi (16-0, 14 KO) in a 10-round lightweight fight. The 20-year-old Sylve, who is MVP’s best prospect, was set to face top Golden Boy prospect Floyd Schofield on this date originally. This isn’t as good. Bahdi, 30, is a Canadian fighter who has fought at a club level, basically.
- Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (53-6-1, 34 KO) is also still on the card, but will be facing a different ex-MMA opponent. Originally meant to face Darren Till, Chavez will now take on Uriah Hall (1-0 in boxing) in a six-rounder at cruiserweight. Chavez, 38, hasn’t fought since the end of 2021 and is long past whatever his prime really was. Hall, 39, made his pro boxing debut in Oct. 2022, beating former NFL star Le’Veon Bell when it turned out Bell isn’t good at boxing.
- Shadasia Green (13-1, 11 KO) will look to bounce back from her first loss against Natasha Spence (8-4-2, 6 KO) in an eight-rounder at super middleweight. Green, 34, had her very limited skill set exposed by Franchon Crews-Dezurn last December. Spence, 38, is 0-2-1 in her last three, and has only had one fight since 2017.
The show will air on DAZN pay-per-view from Amalie Arena in Tampa. It’s obviously extremely top-heavy and the draw is going to be Jake Paul vs Mike Perry or nothing.
