The rematch no one asked for will occur on November 9 when IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis looks to defend his crown against Karen Chukhadzhian.

Ennis, 32-0 (29 KOs), and Chukhadzhian, 24-2 (13 KOs), fought to a one-sided unanimous decision in favor of “Boots” in January of 2023, as Chukhadzhian failed to engage and lost every round on the scorecards. But thanks to sanctioning body semantics, Chukhadzhian was repositioned as the IBF mandatory and forced the fight to go to a purse bid, which was eventually won by his promoter, P2M Box Promotions.

Ennis decided to keep the title instead of skipping the fight, so now, the rematch will take place in yet another homecoming for Ennis at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to headline a Matchroom Boxing card on DAZN.

“I’m going to put on a beautiful show by beating him up, breaking him down, having my fun, and getting my knockout at the end of the night,” Ennis told BoxingScene. “It’s going to be fireworks. I saw a lot of things that I am going to apply in this fight to show that I am that guy and show the world why I am the best.

“He doesn’t do anything that concerns me. It was more about myself on fight night when I fought him. I didn’t do what I was supposed to do. It was never him. It was me not doing what I was supposed to be doing and just looking for the knockout … As long as I have my fun, everything will fall into place. The knockout comes when you don’t look for it.”

In the first matchup, Ennis outlanded the Armenian from Ukraine 203 to 97 over 12 rounds.

“I’m not looking past him, but after I do my thing and win in spectacular fashion, I want the rest of the welterweight belts, and to stay busy,” said Ennis. “I don’t want to sit out for too long. I like keeping my mind sharp.”
