Jermall Charlo revealed on social media that he’ll return to this ring soon. The still-unbeaten former two-division world champion Jermall (33-0, 22 KOs) posted on social media that he will resume his career.

Last November, Jermall defeated Jose Benavidez Jr. by a ten-round unanimous decision in a not-so-impressive performance. It had been two years since Charlo had fought, and he looked rusty.

Loss of Popularity

Many fans have given up on Jermall and his twin, Jermell Charlo, and they won’t be able to recapture the popularity they once had. Their time has passed, and PBC won’t be able to turn them back into stars.

There are no real names for Jermall to fight at 160 if he returns to that weight class. He’s better off moving up to 168 to try and put himself back in a position to get a payday fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Jermall had the opportunity to fight Canelo last year but passed up on it and allowed his twin brother, former undisputed 154-lb champion Jermell Charlo, to get the fight. He performed terribly against Canelo, losing a one-sided 12-round unanimous decision, and he hasn’t been seen since.

Jermall Charlo’s best career wins:

– Julian Williams
– Sergiy Derevyanchenko
– Matt Korobov
– Jose Benavidez Jr
– Austin Trout
– Cornelius Bundrage
– Juan Macias Montiel

Motivations for Return

Jermall might be hoping that His Excellency Turki Alalshikh will take notice of him and pay him a load of money to fight on one of his cards. If Turki chooses to use Jermall for one of his events on the Riyadh Season cards, hopefully, it will be against one of the live dogs.

It’s difficult to picture Jermall turning his career around after being so inactive for the last three years. The 160-lb division is weak enough for Jermall to win another world title. Still, the money that he would get fighting guys like Carlos Adames, Hamzah Sheeraz, and Janibek Alimkhanuly wouldn’t be to his liking.

The main problems that Jermall Charlo has are ring rust, his age, and the way he’s looked poor in his last two fights against Jose Benavidez Jr. and Juan Macias Montiel. Jermall looks like a washed-up fighter now. So, even if he moves back down, he’s not likely to do well.

You can never say never, but I think Jermall can’t return to the level he was fighting when he was at his best four years ago. He’s been too inactive, and judging by some of the videos he’s posted, he doesn’t look like he’s had a healthy lifestyle.
