Johnny Fisher will fight Andriy Rudenko at London’s Copper Box Arena on September 28.
The heavyweights had been scheduled to fight on the same date at the Sheffield Arena, on the undercard of Dalton Smith’s European junior-welterweight title fight against Jon Fernandez, until an injury suffered by Smith caused the promotion’s cancellation.
Fisher, 25, last fought in July when at the same venue he stopped Alen Babic inside a round. The 40-year-old Rudenko represents his most proven opponent; promoters Matchroom are also planning for him to appear on the undercard of Liam Paro’s next fight in Australia before the conclusion of 2024.
“The Copper ‘Bosh’ Arena is going to be jumping again on September 28,” the heavyweight said. “We can always rely on The Bull Army to take over east London as I take the next step in my career.
“Andriy Rudenko will be my toughest test do date. Proven to be a warrior at the elite level, he will test my mettle. I’m ready.”
Rhiannon Dixon makes the first defence of her WBO lightweight title against Terri Harper on the Fisher-Rudenko undercard. Also scheduled are an appealing super-bantamweight fight between Peter McGrail and Brad Foster, and a lightweight contest between Cameron Vuong and Joe Underwood Hughes.
