Joseph Parker says he’d like to fight a rematch with Anthony Joshua in September at Wembley Stadium in London.

The former WBO heavyweight champion (35-3, 23 KOs) has turned his career around by transforming himself into a slippery, electric eel-like fighter who has done just enough to defeat aging fighters Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.

Now, Parker wants a big fight, and he feels that the former two-time heavyweight champion Joshua would be an ideal choice for him if he can get the fight, which is unlikely.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, wants to match him against the winner of Saturday’s fight between Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois if the IBF heavyweight title is available.

Parker is still more of an afterthought for Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Oleksandr Usyk because they’ve got bigger fish to fry.

The New Zealander Parker says if he can’t get a rematch with Joshua, he’d like to try and avenge his losses to Joe Joyce and Dillian Whyte.

Overlooked Contenders

Some names that Parker didn’t mention are these fighters:

– Agit Kabayel
– Jared Anderson
– Martin Bakole
– Bakhodir Jalolov
– Efe Ajagba
– Fabio Wardley

“That would be cool. I think that would be awesome to have a rematch with Joshua. I want the biggest fights,” said Joseph Parker to talkSport Boxing about wanting to fight a rematch with Anthony Joshua in September at Wembley Stadium in London.

It’s doubtful that Parker will get a rematch with Joshua without beating someone good who isn’t over-the-hill. Parker has done a great job beating 38-year-old Deontay and 41-year-old Zhilei Zhang by becoming a retro Chris Byrd type of fighter, but he needs to beat someone younger, like Agit Kabayel, Jared Anderson, or Bakhodir Jalolov to get the bigger fights.

Parker won’t fight his friend, Tyson Fury, so he’s not an option, and it might not matter anyway because the Gypsy King looks like he’s about done at 35.

“Joshua is a massive name and he’s looked very good in his fights in Saudi Arabia,” said Parker. “We’ll both be on the same card. It’ll be nice to do it again. We’ve both improved, and we’re different fighters. I feel it would be a different fight than we fought in 2018.

“I’d like to fight Usyk, but he’s fighting Tyson. AJ. I’d like to avenge the losses I’ve had. Joyce, but he’s fighting Chisora. Dillian Whyte, he’s been very quiet. Hrgovic would be cool, or Dubois,” said Parker.
