Kurt Scoby went from expecting one opponent to taking on a late replacement to having no fight at all.

Scoby (15-1, 13 KOs), a 29-year-old lightweight and junior welterweight from Pennsylvania, was scheduled to perform on DAZN on Tuesday evening in the co-feature bout at Sony Hall in New York City.

His original opponent was Bryan Jimenez (17-1, 10 KOs). But then Jimenez was replaced by late substitute Andrew Rodgers (9-15-3, 3 KOs).

Scoby and Rodgers stepped on the scales on Monday. Before the evening was over, however, Rodgers was also out of the bout – and Scoby was off the card.

“I’m truly sorry to hear that my opponent fell ill and won’t be able to fight tomorrow,” Scoby posted on Instagram on Monday. “I poured my heart and soul into training, dedicating countless hours to perfect my skills and prepare for this moment. It’s heartbreaking to think that I won’t have the chance to showcase my hard work and passion in the ring. I hope my opponent recovers quickly, and I look forward to fighting in the near future, when circumstances allow. This moment may be disappointing, but my spirit remains undeterred.”

This would have been Scoby’s fourth fight of 2024, and his third appearance since suffering his first pro loss. That defeat came in April, when the 29-year-old lightweight from Pennsylvania suffered a sixth-round TKO against the 13-6-3 Dakota Linger.

The main event is a flyweight bout between Andy Dominguez (11-1, 6 KOs) against Angel Geovanny Meza Morales (8-2-3, 6 KOs).

The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
