Lawrence Okolie has invited a bridgerweight fight with Deontay Wilder.
The 31 year old won the lightly regarded WBC bridgerweight title in his past fight, when he travelled to Poland to stop Lukasz Rozanski inside a round.
Having since seen Wilder get stopped by Zhilei Zhang and likely end his career as a top-level heavyweight at the age of 38, he hopes that the former WBC champion will consider attempting to revive his career by, unusually, moving down in weight.
“I think it would be a great fight,” Okolie, the former WBO cruiserweight champion, told Betway. “And he’ll always have what leaves people late and that’s his punching power and the name – Deontay Wilder.
“If I’m boxing Wilder, no matter what I say, I’m going to be a little bit apprehensive and think, ‘Okay let’s see what his power is like’.
“I think it’s a great fight.”
The defeat by Zhang was Wilder’s second in succession, and fourth in five fights.
