Two years after their first meeting, former undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will fight tonight in the 12-round main event in their long-awaited rematch on ESPN+ at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England.

A Changed Landscape
A lot has changed since Taylor (19-1, 13 KOs) defeated Catterall (28-1, 13 KOs) by a controversial 12-round unanimous decision in their first fight in February 2022 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Taylor, 33, has vacated three of his four 140-lb belts and lost his remaining WBO title in a one-sided defeat last year to Teofimo Lopez in June 2023.
In that fight, Taylor looked like a faded fighter who was nowhere near what he’d been during the best years of his career from 2019 to 2021.

Catterall has fought twice since his loss, beating little-known Darragh Foley and the faded 38-year-old Jorge Linares. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, hasn’t thrown him to the wolves for some reason to put him in with the talented opposition since his loss to Catterall, and that makes you wonder a little bit.
