Benavidez (29-0, 24 KO) and Morrell (11-0, 9 KO) are fighting with the hope of potentially meeting the Beterbiev vs Bivol 2 winner later this year, or a Canelo Alvarez fight could still, at least possibly, be on the table for either depending on how things break in the coming months.
It’s simply the best possible fight the two could make at the moment, and does have major action and dramatic potential, too.
The undercard fighters will also weigh in today, with Brandon Figueroa and Stephen Fulton Jr meeting in a rematch, this time for Figueroa’s WBC featherweight title, plus Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz vs Angel Fierro at 140 lbs, and Jesus Ramos Jr taking on Jeison Rosario in a middleweight contest.
