David Benavidez gets into argument with David Morrell on The Ariel Helwani Show.
Both David Benavidez and David Morrell appeared on the Ariel Helwani show to promote their Feb. 1 fight, and as you might expect from their recent press run, it wasn’t long before things went a little off the rails.
During this segment Benavidez would call out Morrell for not talking as much trash as he had been recently, which ultimately ignited another round of verbal sparring between the men.
“It’s funny because he had so much stuff to say before the press conference, all this and that, that I’m a Robocop, he’s going to knock me out, that I don’t have nothing,” Benavidez would begin. “But now look at him, he’s scared, he don’t have sh-t to say.”
That comment would kick off a back-and-forth argument between the fighters with Benavidez going on to declare that Morrell’s management will be making more from this fight than Morrell himself. Helwani would take particular interest in that accusation from Benavidez, and when he pressed Morrell for a response in that regard, Morrell had this to say.
“Man, it’s bullsh-t,” Morrell said, before veering off to accuse Benavidez of avoiding a fight with him for the past two years.
After that there would be a lot more arguing over accusations of doping — another allegation that Morrell would deny, saying he’s clean.
