Abdullah Mason was a class above Jeremia Nakathila, who couldn’t keep up with his skill and athleticism.

fAbdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KO) scored a stoppage win over Jeremia Nakathila (26-5, 21 KO) in ESPN’s lightweight main event tonight. Mason would use his speed and sharp punching to slowing apply pressure on Nakathila and starting seeing some dividends in the third round when Nakathila started showing the first signs of real distress.

In the fourth round Mason would open up a nasty cut combined with a contusion around the left eye of Nakathila, and in between the fourth and fifth rounds Nakathila would admit that he wasn’t okay which prompted the ringside physician to evaluate him. With Nakathila essentially saying he was unable to see the referee had to recommend the fight be stopped, which it official was at the 0:01 mark of Round 5. With the win Mason moves towards his first world title opportunity.

Nahir Albright MD-10 Kelvin Davis

Nahir Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) scored an upset win over Kelvin Davis (15-1, 8 KOs) on the main card’s opening fight, taking a majority decision win over ten rounds on official scores of 95-95, 97-93, and 96-94 and handing Davis his first professional loss.

Davis may have had the height and reach advantage but he had no real answer for Albright’s right hand which scored early and often, visibly shaking up Davis numerous times throughout the fight. To Davis’ credit he hung in there tough even after getting hurt pretty badly in the second round, but he was never able to make the necessary adjustments to swing the momentum from there on out.

Perhaps even more notable than Albright’s win is that it was reported during the main event that Keyshawn apparently confronted Albright on his way back to the locker room after his win, supposedly headbutting and leaving him with a knot on his forehead. What will come of this remains to be seen but it’s seemingly a situation where Keyshawn has made a bad situation even worse for himself.
