TIJUANA, Mexico – Miguel Berchelt’s comeback campaign will continue on November 30 when the former junior lightweight titleholder takes on Mauro Hasan.
The fight will be contested at 135 pounds, Berchelt promoter and Zanfer Boxing head Fernando Beltran told BoxingScene on Friday in Tijuana, while also announcing Jaime Munguia’s separate homecoming event set to take place on December 14.
“El Alacran” Berchelt, 40-3 (36 KOs), from Merida, Yucatán, Mexico, will headline the homecoming event later this month at the Yucatán Fair in Xmatkuil, the location of his professional debut in 2010.
The hard-hitting Berchelt, 32, is trying to revive his career following back-to-back devastating knockout losses to Oscar Valdez in 2021 and Jeremia Nakathila in 2022.
After a 17-month layoff, Berchelt has bounced back with two stoppage wins against unheralded opponents in Mexico; he last fought in July.
“I think he’s looking good,” said Beltran. “We’ll see what happens.”
Hasan, 16-9-1 (8 KOs), is a 27-year-old Argentine southpaw who has lost to the likes of Dalton Smith and Liam Wilson over the years.
Berchelt became the WBC’s 130-pound titleholder in 2017 by knocking out Francisco Vargas and defended the title six times before losing to Valdez.
