The last time he participated in a sanctioned bout was back in June 2005, but now nineteen years later, the former two-time heavyweight champion, “Iron” Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs), is set to take on YouTuber turned professional boxer, Jake “The Problem Child” Paul (10-1, 7 KOs).
While Mike Tyson has been inactive for nearly two decades, his opponent, Jake Paul, has been consistently competing inside the ring for the past four years. The highly anticipated Tyson vs Paul clash is set to take place on Friday night, November 15th, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, streaming live on Netflix.
When we think of Mike Tyson, we think about the man who, at the age of 20, became the youngest boxer to win the heavyweight title. We think about the man who, by the age of 21, collected the other two belts and became the undisputed world champion.
Back in his prime, Mike Tyson was the ultimate combination of speed and power. Tyson utilized the peek-a-boo style to perfection as he dominated the heavyweight division from 1986 to 1990.
Present day, Mike Tyson is preparing to face a man who is a former YouTuber and currently a four year boxing pro. Going off of namesake, in a hypothetical situation, it is easy to say Mike Tyson can beat the 27-year-old Jake Paul, but in our current reality it’s risky to say due to the date on Tyson’s birth certificate.
Tyson holds advantages in the experience and skills categories, but what’s most concerning for fight fans is the 58-year-old Tyson’s level of stamina. The boxing community’s biggest fear is that Tyson gasses out and gets stopped in the later rounds.
What the boxing community fears is not a real concern in Tyson’s mind due to the health product he’s involved with. In his latest business venture, Mike Tyson has formed a partnership with LF*GO.
LF*GO is a brand that is on its way to being a game changer in the energy category. It’s an oral pouch product in which each pouch contains 200 mg of natural caffeine and six essential vitamins and minerals.
Along with LF*GO chairman David Cynamon, the brand ambassador Mike Tyson recently held a press conference in Las Vegas to talk about LF*GO and his upcoming bout with Jake Paul. Tyson said LF*GO keeps him fueled during intense training sessions and his favorite LF*GO pouch flavor is sour cherry.
During the press conference, Mike Tyson spoke about how he was initially a little skeptical in regards to the product until he noticed the impact it had on his training.
“At first, I didn’t think this thing was real. Once I started putting them with the rest of my supplements and when I go in the ring to spar, it made a big difference. It helps my focus, it helps my relaxation, my calmness, and I’m going to continue to use this, even until fight night.”
On the night of November 15th, if Tyson isn’t able to catch Paul with a KO shot early, the 58-year-old’s stamina will become the focal point. However, Tyson isn’t worried about a stamina issue because he believes in the impact of LF*GO, and he also believes in his overall preparation for the fight.
“I’ve been training a lot harder, and I’m just ready. It’s hard to explain the training methods and stuff; I’m just ready to fight.”
