Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was arrested today for unknown reasons at the Krakow Airport in Poland.
It’s unclear what Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) would have done to be arrested. Fans on social media joke that he’s being arrested due to the robbery of the British fighter Daniel Dubois from their fight in August 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland.
That was the fight where Dubois dropped Usyk with a body shot that the referee ruled was a low blow, but replays showed that it was a clear knockdown. Usyk on the canvas for five minutes from that hard punch.
Usyk’s camp manager, Serge Lapin said, “Don’t worry, everything’s fine. The customs control service is neglecting its duties.”
The unbeaten Usyk is preparing for his rematch with former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on December 21st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Usyk already beat Fury last May and is now looking to send him down for his second straight loss. That would make Usyk 4-0 from his fights against Fury and Anthony Joshua.
