The promising Delicious Orie has signed what has been described as a “long-term” promotional agreement with Queensberry Promotions.
Orie, 27, had a fine amateur career that perhaps peaked when he won gold as a super heavyweight at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. He also, in 2022, won bronze at the European Championships.
In 2024 he travelled to the Paris Olympics as one of Britain’s leading medal hopes, but he controversially lost 3-2 to Davit Chaloyan of Armenia in his first fight.
Orie has been training at the Steel City Gym in Sheffield, England, under Grant Smith.
His commitment to Queensberry, incidentally, enhances further the promoter Frank Warren’s increasing grip on the heavyweight division in Britain.
In Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, Warren guides Britain’s two leading heavyweights. He is also, in Moses Itauma, promoting the young heavyweight widely considered the most exciting in the world.
On Saturday, he oversees Derek Chisora-Otto Wallin, and he also continues to work with Fabio Wardley, Lawrence Okolie and Joe Joyce.
