Olympics 2024 boxing medal winners: Updated daily

All the boxing medal results from the Paris Olympics, updated daily as the tournament winds down!

The 2024 Olympics are getting close to wrapping up in Paris, and we’ve started to see the boxing medals come in. Here’s a rundown of all the sweet science medalists for this year’s Summer Games, updated with new results daily through August 10.

Men’s 63.5kg (Lightweight)

• Gold: Erislandy Alvarez (Cuba)
• Silver: Sofiane Oumiha (France)
• Bronze: Wyatt Sanford (Canada) and Lasha Guruli (Georgia)

The last man standing for Cuba sends the squad home with a gold medal in the end. The 24-year-old Alvarez was not a favorite for gold coming into the tournament, but he was outstanding throughout the tournament. He got off to a good start here against the three-time Olympian — and now two-time silver medalist — Oumiha, who had the experience edge and home field, and is also just a very skilled boxer. Oumiha did rally in the second round to put the fight on the line in round three, but Alvarez took one of the three cards the Frenchman needed to win that round and the fight, and he takes the gold.

Men’s 80kg (Light Heavyweight)

• Gold: Oleksandr Khyzhniak (Ukraine)
• Silver: Nurbek Oralbay (Kazakhstan)
• Bronze: Cristian Pinales (Dominican Republic) and Arlen Lopez (Cuba)

The Ukrainian upgrades his silver in Tokyo to gold in Paris, sweeping the third round to win. The fight actually came down to what one judge (Germany’s Holger Kussmaul) thought of the final round, because after we had two cards at 2-0 for Khyzhniak and two cards at 2-0 for Oralbay, his card was the only one even. He and the other four judges all saw a clear third fame for Khyzhniak the correct way.

An excellent career ends on top with a second Olympic gold medal for Ireland’s Kellie Harrington. Even the great Katie Taylor fell short of two Olympic gold medals, but Harrington has done it, and done it in quality fashion, beating the top seed in the tournament convincingly in the final bout of her legendary run.
