Featherweight Omar Trinidad put on a dominant performance in stopping Viktor Slavinskyi in the 10th and final round of their bout Friday at Commerce Casino in Commerce, California.
The end came at 2:31 of the tenth round, capping a fight in which Trinidad stayed a step ahead throughout.
Trinidad (16-0, 13 KOs), 28, had taken a recent hiatus from boxing but showed no signs of rust in Friday’s main event. Trinidad, of Los Angeles, delivered a clinical display of boxing acumen, outclassing Slavinskyi (15-3, 7 KOs) from start to finish. Despite the bout being largely uneventful, Trinidad’s precision and activity stood out against the game but elusive Slavinskyi, 33, from Ukraine.
The fight began with Trinidad establishing his dominance early on, landing meaningful punches that kept Slavinskyi on the defensive. Slavinskyi, though a tricky and elusive target, offered little resistance to Trinidad’s relentless pressure. Trinidad’s active and ferocious approach kept Slavinskyi on the back foot, preventing him from mounting any significant offense.
As the rounds progressed, Trinidad continued to control the action. In the eighth round, he landed a powerful right hand that sent Slavinskyi reeling into the ropes, forcing the referee to issue a count. It was a moment that highlighted Trinidad’s control over the bout, though Slavinskyi managed to survive the round.
Trinidad, determined not to leave the outcome in the hands of the judges, maintained his aggressive approach. In the 10th, he delivered a right hook that left Slavinskyi unable to get up.
