Omar Trinidad will face Hector Sosa in a junior lightweight main event on Oct. 26 at the Commerce Casino Events Center in Los Angeles.
Announced on Thursday by 360 Promotions, the 10-round bout will headline the next installment of “Hollywood Fight Nights,” which will be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass.
Trinidad (16-0-1, 12 KOs), from Boyle Heights in Los Angeles, and ranked No. 13 by the IBF and No. 15 by the WBC, will participate in his third 10-round fight as a professional. In his most recent outing – arguably his most impressive as a pro – he knocked out Viktor Slavinskyi in the final round in July. Trinidad, 28, enters the Sosa fight on a four-fight knockout streak.
Argentina’s Sosa (17-2, 9 KOs), also 28, enters on a three-fight win streak – all upsets, including a 10th-round knockout of James “Jazza” Dickens and a unanimous decision win over hometown favorite Keenan Carbajal in Phoenix in June.
“Omar Trinidad has become one of the top featherweights in boxing, and his willingness to face the toughest opponents, combined with his aggressive, all-action style, has made him a fan favorite,” said Tom Loeffler, head of 360 Promotions. “Hector Sosa is a world-class fighter riding an impressive winning streak. This will be Omar’s toughest test yet.”
