Panthen predicts Pettus stoppage after being ‘disrespected’

Middleweight Jordan Panthen has predicted he will stop opponent DeAudnre Pettus tonight at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California.

Panthen, 28, didn’t hold back when he explained his expectation for his upcoming fight as he enters on a four-fight knockout streak, but believes will soon be five. After the two made weight at the ceremonial weigh-in, Panthen voiced severe displeasure with Pettus.

“I said, ‘You’re going to get it tomorrow, fat boy,’” Panthen, 10-0 (9 KOs), said. “The weight was going to be 154lbs and then it was changed to 157lbs. I came in on weight and he showed up at 161lbs naked.”

The bout was then rescheduled to 161lbs as Panthen, a puncher from Honolulu, Hawaii, sent an ominous warning to Pettus during the face-off. Panthen felt disrespected by Pettus, 30, from Columbia, South Carolina.

“Yeah, coming in four pounds overweight, he either didn’t give a shit or he just didn’t put the work in,” Panthen said. “So, either way, I’m going to make him pay. Thanks for the 20 per cent extra on the purse. I’ll take your money and I’ll beat your ass.”

Pettus saw a two-fight win streak snapped with a unanimous decision loss to Austin Deanda in November. Pettus has never been knocked out as a professional and holds a record of 12-3 (7 KOs). Panthen’s goal is to change that.

“My expectation is to stop him,” Panthen said. “So that’s what I’m planning on doing. I’m planning on finding a way, whether it is a TKO, knockout, he quits in the corner, or the ref stops it. I don’t care. I’m looking to get the job done one way or another.”
