Both main event fighters made weight, but it wasn’t the anticipated matchup most expected. Earlier today, unified middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly withdrew from his title defense against Andrei Mikailovich. This development raises questions about Alimkhanuly’s future in the middleweight division.
As a result, the lightweight bout between undefeated Raymond Muratalla and former junior lightweight titleholder Tevin Farmer has been elevated to the main event for Saturday’s event at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Muratalla, 27, from Fontana, California, weighed in at 134.1 pounds, while Farmer, 33, from Philadelphia, weighed 134.7.
In his last fight against veteran gatekeeper Xolisani Ndongeni, the 27-year-old Muratalla (20-0, 16 KOs) saw his four-fight knockout streak end as he won a competitive unanimous decision in March taking place at Glendale, Arizona.
The 33-year-old Farmer (33-5-1, 8 KOs) enters the fight on a three-fight winning streak on the club circuit after losing his IBF junior lightweight title to Joseph Diaz Jr. in Miami, back in 2020.
In the co-feature, WBC featherweight number-one contender Ruben Villa (22-1, 7 KOs), 27, from Salinas, California, weighed just under the featherweight limit of 125.5 pounds. Sulaiman Segawa (16-4-1, 6 KOs), 33, from Silver Spring, Maryland, weighed 122.6 pounds, nearly making the junior featherweight limit.
