Welterweight Regis Prograis is out of his fight with Oscar Duarte, two sources close to the situation speaking on the terms of anonymity told BoxingScene Tuesday night.

Prograis was set to face Duarte on February 15 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card is scheduled to stream on DAZN and promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

The news was first reported by Jake Donovan of Ring Magazine, who writes that the bout was in jeopardy due to a Prograis shoulder injury. His reporting adds that Prograis had undergone an MRI to confirm the injury.

No further details were provided to BoxingScene from our sources beyond confirmation of the fight being off.

BoxingScene has reached out to Golden Boy Promotions for comment, but has yet to receive a response at the time of this writing.

The bout was a crossroads fight for both. Duarte, 29 of Chihuahua, Mexico, is on a two-fight win streak since training with Robert Garcia. Duarte, a slugger with a record of 28-2-1 (22 KOs), has built a solid following since his loss to Ryan Garcia in December 2023. In his most recent bouts, Duarte defeated 2012 U.S. Olympian Joseph Diaz Jnr in April and Botirzhon Akhmedov in November.

Prograis, 36, who now lives and train in Houston, is on a career-worst two fight losing streak. Prograis, a two-time junior welterweight titleholder, lost in October to Jack Catterall. Prograis dropped his WBC title to Devin Haney in December 2023. Prograis now holds a record of 29-3 (24 KOs).

No word has been given about who Duarte will fight instead on the card.
