Welterweight Cody Crowley will reportedly no longer face IBF titleholder Jaron “Boots” Ennis on July 13 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Crowley was forced to withdraw from what would have been the first title fight of his career after failing a pre-fight eye exam, as first reported by Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com.

Crowley (22-0, 9 KOs), 31, was looking to break an 18-month period of inactivity following his majority decision win over Abel Ramos. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Crowley has averaged just one fight per year.

Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs), 26, who recently signed with Matchroom Boxing, was elevated to IBF titleholder after the sanctioning body stripped Terence Crawford of its belt. Ennis was set to make his debut as a titleholder and as a member of the Matchroom Boxing roster in his hometown of Philadelphia.

With Crowley’s withdrawal, Ennis now finds himself in need of a new opponent.

BoxingScene has reached out to the involved parties but has yet to receive comment.
