Alexis Rocha has won two straight since falling to Giovani Santillan last October
Lance Pugmire reports that Golden Boy welterweights Alexis Rocha and Raul Curiel will meet atop a December 14th DAZN show in Ontario, California.
After falling to Rashidi Ellis in a 2020 clash of prospects, Rocha (25-2, 16 KO) battled his way back into contention with seven straight wins, including a notable stoppage of Blair Cobbs. He entered last October’s showdown with Giovani Santillan as the favorite, but a vicious mauling saw Rocha the deck three times before the ref mercifully called a halt in the sixth.
While he’s since picked up wins over Fredrick Lawson and Santiago Dominguez, the momentum won’t be on his side against Curiel (15-0, 13 KO), who’s scored 10 consecutive finishes in the last five years. It’s a solid clash between a fighter who’s struggled to break through and a top prospect seeking his first marquee win.
Should also be a firefight, which is always welcome.
