In an interview, Henry Garcia, the father of Ryan Garcia, wants his son to get help with his drinking. Henry feels that the 25-year-old Ryan’s drinking has become a problem.
Ryan’s behavior on social media has seemingly changed from friendly to mean-spirited lately. Also, he appears to have put on weight, showing a growing midsection, which could affect his career when his one-year suspension for PEDs ends in April 2025.
“Get That Therapy”
Henry doesn’t say how long Ryan has been drinking. Devin Haney mentioned smelling alcohol on Ryan’s breath during a face-off with him to promote their April 20th fight, and he was drinking what appeared to be a beer during the weigh-in for that clash.
He still won the fight by a twelve-round majority decision, but that was more of a case of Haney not being as good as some people had originally thought.
Henry says Ryan speaks more with his mom than he does with him, but he’s hoping that he can get help for his drinking and be ready to resume his career in the next ten months when his suspension is over.
“I haven’t spoken to Ryan in a long time. He speaks to his mother more than me,” said Henry Garcia to Fight Hub TV. “But it’s okay, he’ll call me when he wants to. I would love for him to get some type of therapy when it comes to his drinking. I’m being real. He says he can control it. I hope he can. But if he doesn’t – get that therapy so he can stop.”
A Young Millionaire’s Temptations
It’s got to be difficult for Ryan because he’s a wealthy millionaire at 25 from his massive paydays against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Devin Haney. With all that money, fame, celebrities wanting to mingle, and beautiful women throwing themselves at him, it will be difficult for Ryan not to enjoy himself.
Ryan has the cash to live in Beverly Hills and live the life of an Errol Flynn-type movie star, enjoying himself to the hilt but burning out quickly.
