The main card also features 21-year-old amateur standout Joel Iriarte
Golden Boy has finally revealed the supporting cast for Saturday’s showdown between WIlliam Zepeda and Giovanni Cabrera, which notably sees flyweight contender Ricardo Sandoval battle former light flyweight champion Angel Acosta.
Sandova (24-2, 17 KO) is 20-1 in the last eight-ish years, the only loss a narrow majority decision to the very capable David Jimenez. Acosta (24-4, 22 KO) has had a rougher go of things, but you could argue that he doesn’t have a truly bad loss on his record; his two clean defeats came against multi-division champions Kosei Tanaka and Junto Nakatani, he was ahead on the cards before suffering a controversial stoppage to Elwin Soto, and his decision loss to Angelino Cordova last year was reportedly questionable.
This should be highly entertaining, at the very least.
The rest of the main card features Manuel Flores (17-1, 13 KO) against Nohel Arambulet (23-5-2, 13 KO) and former top amateur Joel Iriarte (2-0, 2 KO) against Yainel Alvarez (3-4-2, 1 KO), while Alex Martin (18-5, 6 KO) vs Pedro Campa (35-3-1, 24 KO) leads the YouTube Prelims.
