Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has agreed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, and is on course to fly to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the first of those in May.
It had been reported that his traditional Cinco de Mayo position in Las Vegas would be filled by him fighting Jake Paul, but Turki Alalshikh of the General Entertainment Authority revealed on social media details of their agreement, to which the 34-year-old Alvarez responded: “Let’s go brother.”
Who his four opponents will be remains unclear, but it is little secret that Alalshikh had hoped to match him with Terence Crawford in September.
“Canelo, in Riyadh, in May, the big fight, and the history of boxing,” Alalshikh rather cryptically said. “Then September.
“Then two more fights in [20]26. Don’t miss with a line.”
The development represents a significant transformation from as recently as September 2024 when Alalshikh was overseeing a UFC promotion in Vegas on the same week as Alvarez’s victory over Edgar Berlanga, and vowed: “We will eat them.”
