Sebastian Fundora has a new opponent – and a new fight date.
Fundora, the unified junior middleweight titleholder, was planning to face Errol Spence on March 29. But with Fundora-Spence not happening, he will instead take on Chordale Booker on March 22 in Las Vegas.
The fight and location were originally reported by Mike Coppinger of ESPN, while the date was originally reported by Jake Donovan of The Ring. BoxingScene’s Lucas Ketelle has since confirmed the news with a source familiar with the contract.
Fundora, 21-1-1 (13 KOs), won the WBO and vacant WBC belts in March, stepping in as a late replacement opponent against Tim Tszyu. The fight was bloody for both men, Tszyu suffering a horrific gash due to an accidental elbow while Fundora had a broken nose. Fundora took the split decision, and Spence stepped in the ring afterward to set up what was expected to be the next fight for each.
Booker, 23-1 (11 KOs), is ranked No. 5 by the WBO and not currently ranked by the WBC. He was knocked out in less than a round by Austin “Ammo” Williams back in April 2022 but has won six straight since. Booker was supposed to fight February 15 against Patrick Allotey, but now a better offer has come his way.
The show will be held at the Michelob Ultra Arena and will stream on Amazon’s Prime Video, according to Coppinger and Donovan.
