Tevin Farmer is complaining about the absence of drug testing in his 10-round split decision loss to lightweight contender William Zepeda last Saturday night in Riyadh. Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KOs) wants to know why he and Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs) weren’t tested, and he’s not happy.

The slender Zepeda looked and fought the same way he always does, throwing over 1000 punches in a more one-sided fight than the scores the three judges handed down. They scored it 95-94 x 2 for Zepeda and 95-94 for Farmer. I had it 9-1 for Zepeda, with Farmer only winning the fourth round.

Farmer Muddying The Water

It’s unclear if the former IBF super featherweight champion Farmer is generally concerned or is trying to muddy the water over his loss, tarnishing Zepeda’s victory by hinting foul play. Farmer isn’t getting much sympathy on social media from fans, some of which are telling him to “stop crying.” It’s always pathetic when a fighter just can’t accept a defeat, and Farmer seems like a classic example.

Zepeda always fights the same way, throwing over 100+ punches per round, and this fight was no different. Farmer couldn’t handle the output, especially the body shots that had him clinging to him like a barnacle attached to the side of a ship. Farmer was only letting go long enough to land a shot before grabbing Zepeda again, and it was bad to watch.

Some point out that it would have been worse for Farmer if he hadn’t “hugged” Zepeda all night, trying to keep from getting knocked out. Farmer’s holding was extreme, making some wonder why the referee, Harvey Dock, didn’t penalize him. There should have been point deductions because Farmer went way overboard, using it as his main defensive tool.
