Jack Catterall narrowly outweighed Arnold Barboza Jnr ahead of Saturday’s WBO interim junior-welterweight title fight at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
The rivals – Catterall is 31 and his opponent 33 – fight to earn the status of mandatory challenger to the full champion Teofimo Lopez.
“I’m super focused now,” said Catterall. “I always put that pressure on myself. I know the stakes for this fight and what happens in the future. I’m tunnel vision, locked in, and I’ve got a big job to do. I’m ready to go.”
“I’m super excited,” said Barboza Jnr. “Hopefully some of these fans come back with me.”
Michael Gomez Jnr also made weight for his appealing fight with the British and Commonwealth junior-lightweight champion Reece Bellotti. Their contest was rescheduled from October, after Gomez Jnr was declared unwell by the doctor, shortly before they were due to make their way to the ring.
The light heavyweight Conner Tudsbury, 24, makes his professional debut, against Sadaam Moamed da silva Caetano of Belgium.
