Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis’ coach, Kenny Ellis, took to social media to scold Vasily Lomachenko for not being motivated to return to the ring for a unification fight against the Baltimore native.

Ellis barked at Lomachenko, saying he should retire if he weren’t motivated to fight Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs). Interestingly, Tank’s motivation to fight Lomachenko wasn’t from 2018 to 2023; only now has it suddenly surfaced.

“If Lomachenko can’t get motivated by being the chance of being ‘The Face of Boxing,’ his team needs to hang his gloves to where he can never reach them again. He’s done,” said coach Kenny Ellis on social media, reacting to Vasily Lomachenko reportedly telling his manager Egis Klimas that he’s not motivated to fight Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis right now.

Loma’s manager, Egis Klimas, didn’t rule out Lomachenko fighting Tank. He just said he didn’t want to fight until the end of the year, which is when the clash was planned anyway.

Yesterday, Klimas told Steve Kim on X, “Loma is not in the mood [to fight Tank Davis] right now. He doesn’t have the motivation at the moment.”

Some fans feel that Tank Davis’ interest in fighting Lomachenko has sparked because he’s 36 now and showing signs of age. In other words, Gervonta and his team, with their wolf-like instincts, have spotted lame prey that he feels they can swoop down from the hills to pick off.

Interestingly, Gervonta’s fans have been quick to jump on Lomachenko, labeling him as a ducker, yet they say nothing about the years that Tank wanted no part of fighting him. It’s as if they have amnesia about past events.

Fans forget the Ducking by Team Tank

What Tank Davis has done is a classic move in the sport. Avoid a dangerous fighter in his prime; wait until he gets old, then push for the fight. This is how it’s done in the sport, and it is pathetic.

Many fans have jumped ship, focusing on watching MMA because, at least in that sport, the big fights happen when they’re supposed to rather than marinating for years until one fighter shows signs of being washed up.

That’s clearly what Tank Davis and his team did with Lomachenko. Now, given their advantage, they’re barking about him not readily agreeing to fight Tank.
