There’s talk on social media about Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis potentially fighting on November 2nd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
T-Mobile Arena Already Booked
It’s all fan speculation at this point because the venue is already booked. Supposedly, Tank Davis’ promoters have reserved the event. However, when I checked the T-Mobile Arena’s event schedule, I found that a hockey game between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Utah Hockey Club was booked for November 2nd at the venue that evening.
So, unless that game is moved to a different venue, Tank Davis won’t be fighting at the T-Mobile Arena on November 2nd. Fans will have to wait and see when and where WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion Gervonta (29-0, 27 KOs) will be fighting, but it doesn’t appear it will be at the T-Mobile on the rumored night.
Gervonta, 29, is coming off an eighth-round knockout win over Frank Martin on June 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. That venue will be a good option if the T-Mobile Arena isn’t available on November 2nd and Tank plans to fight on that date.
Hardcore boxing fans hope Tank will fight WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson in a unification clash next.
Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) has been campaigning like a politician for the fight with Tank, but he’s not looked good in recent fights to help create demand for the match outside of the hardcore fans.
His Excellency Turki Alalshikh is interested in potentially pairing Shakur vs. William Zepeda with Terence Crawford vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr. in an event in 2025. So, Shakur is not an option for Tank Davis’s next fight in November.
Tank Davis’ options for November are limited to these fighters:
– Floyd Schofield
– Keyshawn Davis
– Raymond Muratalla
– Edwin De Los Santos
– Andy Cruz
– George Kambosos Jr
– Gustavo Lemos
If money is what Tank were after, he should offer the match to Teofimo Lopez and fight him at a catchweight above 135. Tank probably won’t do that because it would involve risk.
Some of the fighters that Tank would offer a fight to would likely reject it. Keyshawn is being groomed by Top Rank, and he’s not a good option.
Fighting De Los Santos would give Tank a chance to let fans compare his performance to that of Shakur, who looked terrible against him last November. Shakur ran around the ring all night, causing fans at the T-Mobile Arena to boo him out of the venue.
