Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Lamont Roach and David Benavidez vs. Jesse Hart is being considered for December 21st.

Staging this two-fight tandem on PBC on Amazon Prime Video PPV on this date will compete with the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 rematch, which will also be sold on pay-per-view. It’s not a good idea to have these two events on the same date. Tank Davis is a big star, but Roach is a no-name with casual boxing fans, and he’s never beaten anyone notable to gain fame.

Tank-Roach and Benavidez-Hart are fights that very few fans would be interested in paying to watch. The organizers must scrap the idea of staging this event on December 21st unless they’re okay with low PPV numbers. Selling this card for cheap might work because fans would be willing to buy it if it’s in the $15 range.

It would make sense for a Tank and Benavidez card to be staged on the same date as Fury-Usyk 2 if they were matched against better opponents.

Earlier today, fans got bad news that WBC interim light heavyweight champion Benavidez wouldn’t face David Morrell next. Benavidez said that he was fighting 35-year-old Jesse Hart (31-3, 25 KOs) instead, which fans saw as a sign that the ‘Mexican Monst’ had gotten cold feet.

Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) would be moving up from super featherweight to challenge Gervonta (30-0, 28 KOs) for the WBA ‘regular’ lightweight title.

“I’m told they’re considering the Gervonta-Roach fight for December 21, with Benavidez-Hart in the mix. The thing is that the Usyk vs. Fury 2 PPV is on that same day, and that could affect the date. On December 14, Munguía-Gavril would be in TJ and Raúl Curiel vs Alexis Rocha in LA,” said Salvador Rodriguez on X.

Tank Davis has a lot of great options for lightweight, and he could fight beside Lamont Roach. Raymond Muratalla, Andy Cruz, Floyd Schofield, and Keyshawn Davis would be good.
