Top contender Francisco Rodriguez Jr will fight in what’s functionally a final eliminator
WBC head honcho Mauricio Sulaiman tells Salvador Rodriguez that former unified light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji will face Cristofer Rosales for the vacant flyweight title formerly held by Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez.
Francisco “Chuhuas” Rodriguez Jr, the no. 1 contender, will fight for the Silver title to prove he can make 112 for the first time since 2016.
In terms of entertainment value, this was the best possible outcome. Teraji (23-1, 14 KO) is one of the best and most consistent action fighters in the sport, possessed of both blistering offense and a general disregard for his own well-being. Rosales (37-6, 22 KO) is a willing dance partner, a heavy hitter with plenty of high-level experience whose only stoppage loss came to a dialed-in Julio Cesar Martinez in 2019.
Hoping to see this one on a Japanese megashow later this year.
