Gervonta Tank Davis, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Shakur Stevenson are seeing a massive rise in popularity on the Internet. The increase in subscribers and searches for these four fighters is rising rapidly, setting up potential superfights involving them.
For some fans, it’s hard to understand how fighters who are widely criticized are seeing their popularity soar. It’s a combination of them being social media savvy, performances, and trash talk that has people interested in them.
In the case of Haney and Shakur, poor performances and self-confidence make people want to search for them.
The Fab Four
- Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis: The one-punch knockouts that ‘Tank’ has been providing have people in him. Despite his power, he brings drama to his fights with the way he falls behind early, absorbing punishment, but then coming through in the end with vicious KOs. Some fans hate the former Mayweather-promoted fighter Tank for facing sub-par opposition during his 11-year career and still peddling the mismatches on
- Ryan Garcia: Of the four, Ryan is the most social media savvy, working harder than the others with constant life updates and unafraid to say anything. It’s led to problems, but it’s still enjoyable for fans to read.
- Devin Haney: With Haney, it’s a weird combination of how he dresses, having his loss erased, constant complaining about Ryan, and the big ego that makes him a target for fans to follow him. In some ways, he’s like the new Mayweather.
- Shakur Stevenson: Viewed as a track star with sprinter speed with the ‘Hit-and-not-get-hit style and easily the biggest self-promoter of the four. Shakur is utterly non-self-aware, unable to grasp his faults inside the ring, and his bragging outside makes him despised by fans.
Superfights are on the Horizon
Big fights involving these four fighters are coming soon. The most iffy of the bunch is Ryan Garcia because of his year of suspension and how he’s acting outside of how he’s acting. If he puts on too much weight during his year out of the ring, his ability to get the super fights will be impacted.
A natural fight to be made between the four fights would be Devin Haney vs. Shakur Stevenson because both have a similar style. Haney has issues taking punches, but he wouldn’t have to worry about being clipped against Shakur because he can’t punch.
