Chris Eubank Jr says there aren’t many big options on the table for Canelo at this point, so feels confident in his negotiating position.

Chris Eubank Jr still says he has his sights set on a meeting with Canelo Alvarez, who’s currently scheduled to take on Edgar Belanga on September 14. Eubank Jr tells Sky Sports that he believes he and Canelo could land a fight fight May 2025 while he continues to seemingly haggle with Canelo’s team about his share of the proceeds.

But as Eubank Jr sees it, the landscape isn’t that deep for Canelo, so he believes he’ll still be in a good negotiating position.

“A lot of people are not happy with this fight that he’s chosen. There’s only a certain pool of fighters that Canelo can now fight, which is why I’m not worried about this fight falling through in September. Because who else can he fight? There’s only a few guys.”

Eubank Jr also entertains the idea of potentially facing Terence Crawford, with whom he shares a trainer in Brian McIntyre. While Eubank Jr says it’s not a great thought that McIntyre would obviously go with Crawford in that situation, and provide inside information, he’s still confident he would win because he doesn’t think Crawford has the size to beat him.

“We’ve got a trainer who’s training both of us and if the fight does happen he’s going to go with the guy he’s come up with so he’s going to be sharing the information. Which is not a great thing to think about. But I’m very confident. I think he’s too small.”

While Eubank Jr tells the public of these grand plans and ideas, it’s worth noting that he’s frequently been one to mention a lot of big names that he’s looking to fight, but for one reason or another these fights never seems to actually come to fruition.
