WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk lost his temper with Keyshawn Davis during their face-off today when the the challenger grabbed his belt and told him, “This is going to be mine.” Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) wasn’t going to be punked during the face-off like some of Keyshawn’s past opponents where.
Belt Snatch Backfires
So, he stepped to him and put his fist in his face, letting the 2020 Olympic silver medalist what’s in store for him on Friday night. The two had to be separated before things got out of hand. It looked to me like Berinchyk was ready to light Keyshawn up. He wasn’t playing around. He’s from Urkaine and he wasn’t going to let Davis disrespect him.
Berinchyk is aware of the first round knockout prediction Keyshawn has been making recently, and he’s not going for that. He sees the disrepect from him, and he wants to put the failed Olympian in his place.
This Friday, February 14th, Berinchyk and Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) will meet in the 12 round main event at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City. The event will be shown live on ESPN and ESPN+.
The undercard is one of the best I’ve seen for a non-PPV event in a long time. Top Rank has done an excellent job of putting together some talented fighters on this card.
Friday’s fights:
– Xander Zayas vs. Slawa Spomer
– Jared Anderson vs. Marios Kollias
– Abdullah Mason vs. Manuel Jaimes
Keyshawn: “This [WBO belt] is going to be mine. You can keep that but I’m going to take that one, though. It got a little personal. I’m going to whip you’re a** too. I’m going to take my belt off an whip you’re a**. And the new. You got a couple of more days with that. Friday, it’s going down. It’s going down on Friday. Where you going?

“I’m going to knock him out in the first round because I’m capable of doing it,” said Keyshawn David to Boxing Social, predicting a quick stoppage victory over Denys Berinchyk on Friday night. “Bring all the A-class fighters. I’m here to take over boxing.
“I never say I’m never going to fight him. I just say he’s not ready now,” said Keyshawn about Andy Cruz. “When a fighter isn’t ready, you let it marinate, so it’s a PPV attraction. I feel it can be that. If he spoke English, it could be glorified.
“I feel if I keep winning and he moves up the professional rankings, it’s going to make more sense. You just go to let him do that. He’s a good promoter. If he spoke English, he’d be even better, but he’s got a lot of work to do. We’ll see if he gets to that stage.
“We’re all going to be world champions at the same time, too,” said Keyshawn about his two brothers that box, Kelvin and Keon Davis. “My brother, Kevin Davis, is already getting into the contending level.
“My brother, Keon, he’s about to be 2-0. He’s on my undercard at MSG, but Keon, it’s going to take 15 fights top to fight for a world title. Keon has all the skills in the world, just like my brother, Kelvin. It’s definitely going to be a DB3 affair for the years to come,” said Keyshawn.
