It’s widely believed that the soon-to-be 36-year-old former WBA and WBC light welterweights champion Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) has his career on the line. He lost his last fight in December by a wide margin against what should have been a beatable foe and looked equally poor in his fight before that in June 2023.
A loss for Catterall would reinforce the view many people have about him not being a world-class fighter but merely a domestic-level fighter with a crafty style and zero punching power. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has high hopes for Catterall, but he may need to face the reality that he’s not quite upper-tier material if he’s beaten by Prograis in the main event today.
