His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has confirmed on X that he wants to make the fight between Terence Crawford and Jaron ”Boots’ Ennis at 154 “soon.”

Eddie Hearn Confident in Crawford vs. Ennis

Promoter Eddie Hearn stated during last night’s post-fight interview after Boots’ fifth-round stoppage win over David Avanesyan that he believes His Excellency will make Crawford vs. Boots. Moreover, Canelo Alvarez won’t fight Crawford.

Hearn points out that he doesn’t think Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), who turns 37 in two months on September 28, will beat Israil Madrimov on August 3rd.

Crawford will be defeated by the unbeaten ‘Little GGG’ Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs) in 20 days from now on August 3rd at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, and he’ll have to decide if he wants to face the young phenom Boots Ennis off the back of a loss.

Fans on social media believe Crawford will do everything within his powers to avoid Boots Ennis like the plague, choosing to fight other opponents if he can’t get that goldmine fight against Canelo Alvarez that he’s hoping to get before heading off into the sunset to enjoy his mega-millions in his beautiful mansion in Nebraska.

Ennis’ Power and Style Creates Problems for Crawford

The body punching and the left hook counter that Boots Ennis throws would be a nightmare for Crawford, and he might not last long against that kind of attack, especially with him fighting so seldom in the last four years.

In the fifth round, Boots Ennis dropped Avanesyan with a beautiful left hook counter to the head, putting him on the canvas like a rocket-assisted shell had hit him. Avanesyan never saw the punch coming, but he wouldn’t have stayed on his feet with that kind of monstrous shot even if he had.

Boots had just landed a right to the body seconds before that, and Avanesyan absorbed that crunching shot and then scuppered by the left-hook counter.

Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) might be too young, strong, and resilient for Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) at this stage.

The real question is whether Crawford will take the fight with Boots, knowing that he could wind up in the same position as the 35-year-old Avanesyan did. That guy is a year younger than Crawford and lacks the youth to compete with Boots.
