Promoter Alex Krassyuk puts the blame on Tyson Fury for his countless delays in allowing Oleksandr Usyk to be honed into a perfect red diamond, bigger, stronger, and ready to destroy him on Saturday night in their undisputed heavyweight championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The extra time that WBC champion Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) required, for whatever reason, perhaps to lose weight, enabled IBF/WBA/WBO champ Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) the opportunity to strengthen his physique and sharpen his training.
If things don’t work out well for Fury on Saturday night, he only has himself to blame because if he’d just taken the fight with Usyk last December, his chances of winning would be better than they are now.
Some fans believe Fury would have been better off going into the fight with Usyk looking flabby rather than postponing the fight to trim off the pounds.
Fury’s Delays Fueled Usyk’s Metamorphosis
“It’s Tyson Fury’s fault because he rescheduled the fight three times, and he gave Oleksandr Usyk a chance to get as big as that, to get as strong as that, and to get as trained as that,” said promoter Alex Krassyuk to DAZN Boxing during today’s open workouts for his fight against Tyson Fury on Saturday.
Usyk no longer resembles a cruiserweight as he had in his previous fights at heavyweight, and he now looks more like a mini-Mike Tyson. As I watched Usyk’s open workout today, he’s throwing with more power.
“Now, he’s a different man. He’s not a cruiserweight or an amateur anymore. This guy is tough,. Look at what he’s doing. That’s why when I talk about this upcoming fight, I talk about finishing inside the distance. He’s too strong now,” Krassyuk continued about Usyk.
Usyk’s Scientific Approach to Training
“His camp is filled with scientists. Every man you see around him is a scientist in his field. Every part of his training camp is under control. The fighter earns his victory in training camp, and this man has gone three already in a row,” said Krassyuk.
“He went through 500 rounds of sparring for just one fight. That’s why he’s undisputed. Oleksandr Usyk’s muscles are bigger, but his weight is more or less the same.”
It sounds like Usyk worked hard at the three training camps for this fight. The three came for one fight. It’ll be good once this is over.
Fury’s Weight Loss: A Questionable Strategy?
“As far as Tyson. If there’s no science behind him, it’s probably not the best work he’s done. I mean, losing weight that fast and that much. Now we see that Usyk doesn’t call him greedy belly anymore. He calls him Skinny Belly,” said Krassyuk.
It appears has drained too much weight off because you can see that he’s lost muscle from his training, and that ain’t good. He lost not only fat, but badly needed muscle and that could haunt him on Saturday night.
“When this man [Usyk] becomes double undisputed, he’s on the same level with the best of what we consider the best of the best. He can be a hero for the underwear commercial. That’s what Usyk said,” said Krassyuk about Fury.
