Walter Fury, now 3-0, picked up a dominant victory against Joe Hardy on the undercard of Derek Chisora-Otto Wallin at the Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
Similarities between Fury and his cousins Hughie and Tyson could be seen in the early exchanges as he powered his long lead hand into the face of Hardy and moved elegantly around the ring. The 3-28 Hardy’s record may lead you to think he had just turned up for a paycheck, but he pressed forwards trying to land big shots.
Fury, a junior middleweight, showed his class throughout and was able to maneuver the flat-footed Hardy around the ring and land sharp, crisp shots at will. Hardy landed the odd wild hook but Fury couldn’t seem to miss and won the contest by a score of 40-36.
The heavyweight Lewis Williams also picked up a win over Cristian Uwaka. Williams, now 2-0 (1 KO), made use of his long, stiff jab, powering it into the face of Uwaka, now 1-4 (1 KO). Williams threw powerful shots throughout the contest in an attempt to replicate the knockout victory he earnt in his debut. Uwaka, however, stood firm, and Williams was awarded a 40-36 victory on the scorecard.
Joe Cooper, now 3-0 (0 KOs), picked up an impressive victory over the game Artjom Spatar, now 4-12-1 (1 KO). Cooper, a middleweight, dropped Spatar in the first and second rounds with a right hand to the temple. Spatar recovered well in both instances and was able to finish the fight on his feet. Cooper was awarded the victory by a score of 40-34.
