Wendy “The Haitian Fire” Toussaint returned to winning form in the main event of Star Boxing’s Rockin’ Fights 49 last Saturday at The Paramount in Huntington, New York.
Facing Argentina’s Brian “El Capitan” Arregui, Toussaint showcased patience and discipline, outlasting his opponent over eight rounds. Judges Tony Paolillo and Steve Weisfeld scored the fight 80-72 and 79-73, respectively, while Kevin Morgan turned in a surprising 76-76 scorecard. The majority decision victory keeps Toussaint, now 16-3 (7 KOs), positioned for a meaningful fight in the future. Arregui falls to 10-5 (7 KOs).
In the co-feature, 22-year-old Italian-American prospect Micky Scala made his Rockin’ Fights debut with a unanimous decision win over Puerto Rico’s Luis “Conrazon De Oro” Ramos. Scala used his height and reach advantage to control the six-round contest, earning scores of 60-54 (twice) and 59-55. Scala, 11-0 (6 KOs) moves forward after recently signing with Star Boxing. Ramos drops to 7-6-1 (7 KOs).
David “King David” Malul thrilled the Paramount crowd with a third-round knockout of Zachary Davis. Malul, in just his second professional fight, landed a flurry of powerful headshots to secure the stoppage, improving to 2-0 (2 KOs). Davis, still seeking his first professional win, fell to 0-2.
Harley “Heavy Hands” Burke remained undefeated after surviving an early scare against Tevin Terrance. A first-round knockdown from Terrance’s signature left hook set the tone for a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle. Ultimately, Burke rallied to edge out a unanimous decision with scores of 58-55, 58-55, and 57-56. The win moves Burke to 9-0 (7 KOs), while Terrance falls to 1-2-2 (1 KO).
John “The Warrior” Gjini delivered a dominant performance against Luis Porozo, stopping the veteran in the fourth round. Gjini’s hand speed and relentless pressure overwhelmed Porozo, who entered with a significant experience advantage. The referee halted the action as Gjini, now 13-0 (12 KOs), continued to land clean shots. Porozo falls to 18-12 (9 KOs).
In the opening bout, Long Island’s Frank “Magic” Monaco and Victor “El Patron” Pradis fought to a split draw. The four-round contest was closely contested, with Pradis targeting Monaco’s body and Monaco countering with well-timed openings. Judges scored the fight 38-38, 39-37, and 37-39, leaving both fighters with an unresolved outcome. Monaco’s record stands at 2-0-1, while Pradis moves to 2-2-1.
