Efe Ajagba says he’s been preparing for the best version of Martin Bakole heading into their May 3 fight.
As Efe Ajagba looks forward to his May 3 fight against Martin Bakole on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull, Ajagba tells Sky Sports that he’s been targeting this fight for a long time and plans to make the most of it.
Ajagba has designs on contending for a world title shot and despite Bakole’s recent stoppage loss, he insists he’s still preparing for the best version of Bakole before looking ahead to bigger and better things.
“I’m not overstepping. I’m just focused on Martin Bakole first,” Ajagba told Sky Sports. “After that, when I get the victory, that’s when I’m going to step up to fight who I want to fight next. Whether it’s Usyk or Dubois.”
As Ajagba sees it, he has the skill, ability, and power to become a world heavyweight champion and intends on demonstrating just that with a win over Bakole to position himself for a world title shot.
The 30-year-old Nigerian fighter has won five straight fights since getting outclassed by Frank Sanchez in late 2021.
