Dillian Whyte is officially out of his upcoming headliner with Joy Joyce.

Dillian Whyte won’t be appearing in the April 5 headlining event against Joe Joyce after Queensberry Promotions has confirmed that he needed to withdraw from the fight due to an injury suffered to his hand.

“Due to a hand injury sustained during training camp, Dillian Whyte is no longer able to compete in his scheduled bout on [April 5] against Joe Joyce at Co-Op Live in Manchester,” a statement said.

Joyce will still be fighting as the card will go ahead, with his replacement opponent to be determined at this point in time.

Obviously this represents a pretty big setback for Whyte who had been looking to keep his activity level up as he attempted to make another push towards a world title opportunity. Perhaps, however, this will be a good opportunity for Joyce to get back on the right side of things after he’s lost three of his last four fights, two of them by knockout.
