French outfit Y12 Boxing claimed the rights to stage a super middleweight eliminator between Christian Mbilli and Kevin Lele Sadjo

Y12 Boxing announced today that they’d successfully outbid Eye of the Tiger Management $878,000 to $776,000 for the right to stage the ordered IBF eliminator between Christian Mbilli and Kevin Lele Sadjo. Per their Instagram, they’re targeting a May date in Paris; based on their previous events, I’d expect DAZN to carry it.

Mbilli (28-0, 23 KO) can, of course, still back out. Virtually all of his fights this decade have been on EotTM shows, so it wouldn’t be too shocking to see him and Camille Estephan take their ball and go home.

Maybe this is just my overpowering desire to see the cartoonish violence this matchup promises talking, but I see this one happening. Putting aside the fact that Mbilli is looking at nearly half a million dollars, this is the most expedient way for him to get a title shot unless Canelo does end up fighting William Scull in May. He’s highly ranked with the other sanctioning bodies, true, but he already turned down a fight with WBO no. 1 Diego Pacheco due to timing issues earlier this year.

It’s not like the WBA has any interest in keeping interim champ Caleb Plant active, either.

With Munguia off the table and EotTM stablemate Osleys Iglesias occupied, Sadjo (24-0, 21 KO) is the best option at the moment. Fingers crossed.
