William Zepeda says he wants to “put on a show” to show the world that he deserves a title shot next when he faces Tevin Farmer this Saturday, November 16. Farmer is being tossed to the young wolf Zepeda for him in the final hurdle before fighting for a world title on February 22nd.

The 34-year-old Farmer is the former IBF super featherweight champion and looked good in his losing effort against Raymond Muratalla on July 13th. He made the unbeaten Muratalla work hard for a 10-round decision. If Farmer can do the same to Zepeda, he may foil his plans for a world title fight.

Zepeda Needs To Impress

The unbeaten Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) needs an impressive victory over Farmer (33-6-1, 8 KOs) in their Latino Night fight to put himself in position to challenge Shakur Stevenson for his WBC lightweight title next.

In a blunder on Golden Boy Promotions’s part, they’ve chosen to the Zepeda-Farmer fight in the card below two other fighters that fans have shown zero interest in.

The only fights that seem to have attracted fan interest from the Latino Night card are these two:

  • Willim Zepeda vs. Tevin Farmer
  • Oscar Duarte vs. Botirzhon Akhmedov

The rest of the fights on the card this Saturday night have received little fan attention, and for good reason. They’re not the type that fans want to see.

No one wants to see the awful main event between Gilberto Ramirez and Chris Billiam-Smith or the co-feature involving the shopworn former unified light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez fighting Arnold Barboza Jr. Golden Boy should have placed the Zepeda vs. Farmer fight in the main event and put the Duarte vs. Akhmedov fight as the co-feature. The rest of the fights are meaningless compared to those two.

Zepeda-Farmer Should Be Main Event

“William Zepeda is in an interesting fight against former world title-holder Tevin Farmer, but that isn’t even the co-main event,” said Chris Mannix to Golden Boy. “There’s a lot at stake for William Zepeda against Shakur Stevenson potentially on the line.”

“I think they made a mistake because Golden Boy wants to make sure he’s ready. So, I think Golden Boy is doing what’s right, knowing he’s got to fight Shakur,” said Tevin Farmer. “Anybody else besides me, they wouldn’t be doing him no justice.

“If he gets past me, which he won’t, but if he do, he knows he’s ready. 100%, he won’t make it to Shakur.

“We’re focused on this fight. We know we have a potential title fight next,” said Zepeda. “We are ready to put on a show to prove we deserve a title shot.”
