Skye Nicolson will defend her featherweight title in July.

Skye Nicolson will defend her WBC featherweight title against Dyana Vargas, featuring on the July 13 Matchroom undercard.

The show will be headlined by Jaron “Boots” Ennis defending the IBF welterweight title against Cody Crowley in Ennis’ hometown. The fight will be Ennis’ first with Matchroom Boxing.

Nicolson (10-0, 1 KO) won the vacant belt on Apr. 6 in Las Vegas, beating Sarah Mahfoud via near-shutout decision over 10 rounds. Vargas (18-1, 12 KO) is a 32-year-old Dominican fighter who had been scheduled to take a stay-busy fight on June 8 in Puerto Plata. The fight with Nicolson will be her first outside of her home country.

Also on the card: Henry Lebron vs Christopher Diaz, Jalil Hackett vs Peter Dobson, Khalil Coe vs Manuel Gallegos, and more.

The card being in Philadelphia — which is not exactly a major event hub these days and hasn’t been for some time — limits the potential for the undercard, so this is what you get. They just were never going to spend a ton of money on the rest of this show, but it’ll be nice to see Ennis fight at home, and hopefully Philly shows up for their guy.
